Doulas of Eastern Idaho is an organization of doulas who promote the benefits of doula assisted birthing and postpartum care. We provide a forum of furthering education, networking and idea sharing for the doula community. Doulas in our organization have a standard of practice that creates continuity of care as we positively influence the childbirth experiences for mothers and families.
A doula is a professional labor support person who provides continuous non-medical emotional support, physical comfort and education to a woman before, during, and after childbirth. She encourages and promotes self advocacy, informed choices, and quality communication between mother and care providers. She also offers positive support and guidance to the mother's partner and loved ones as well and is a positive presence in the birth setting.
We serve Families: Doulas of Eastern Idaho is a membership organization of doulas who are dedicated to supporting women and families physically and emotionally through the antepartum, labor, and postpartum periods of childbirth. We provide education and encouragement to help empower women to make informed birth choices so they can achieve a positive birth experience. See benefits of hiring a doula.
We serve Doulas: We provide a professional forum of continuing education, mentoring, networking, and idea sharing for the doula community in Eastern Idaho. Our organization promotes public awareness of birth and postpartum doulas. We are dedicated to supporting the growth of the doula profession in our community. See board of directors.
We serve our Community: Because our members adhere to a standard of practice and a code of ethics, our community can expect that the Doulas of Eastern Idaho doula care will act in accordance to the highest standards of professional integrity. This will benefit families, health care providers and the greater birthing community.
Continuous support from a doula during labor provides physical and emotional benefits for mothers and health bonuses for their babies. With less medical interventions, fewer complications, and shorter hospital stays, there may be financial savings as well."
